Chlorine Chronicles E-news 04/19/04 Welcome to the National Championship Edition of the Chlorine Chronicles -- the occasional electronic newsletter of the Metropolitan LMSC. In this issue: The USMS National Short-Course Championships begin this Thursday in Indianapolis. We have many swimmers from the LMSC heading to the Midwest to take on all challengers. Those competing are: BADGER MASTERS (BDGR) You can track our swims and cheer us on from afar at http://www.usms.org. [Note to those traveling to Indy, I am trying to organize a casual social event ? probably something on the order of drinks one night after the meet. Let?s try to get everyone to sit together ? I suggest that we all look for Red Tide and sit near them as they are such a large group. As well, if I don?t see you and you want to know what?s up call my cell phone 516-818-7777. See you in Indy. ? Maria Doelger] The 2003 FINA World Rankings have been posted on the web at: http://www.fina.org/rankingshome.html#MastersTop10. A look through the lists will reveal quite a number of swimmers from the LMSC. Congratulations! Team New York Aquatics with a LMSC grant has scheduled a coaches? clinic with Guy Edson of the American Swimming Coaches Association on Saturday, May 8 and Sunday, May 9 (Mother?s Day weekend). The clinic will be free to all participating coaches for LMSC teams. We expect to be able to accommodate 20-30 metro area coaches. The topics Guy will cover in depth are "How to Write Workouts" (Saturday) and dryland training for swimmers (Sunday). The first session on Saturday takes place between 10:00am - 3:00pm with a one hour break in the middle. Sunday's half day session is scheduled between 10:00 am - 1:30 pm. Please contact Jim Massey of TNYA to confirm your attendance (Jimm1333@aol.com). Note: Coaches from outside of NYC are encouraged to use the LIRR or Metro-North rather than drive to the YWCA on 53rd and Lexington. If you drive: area parking lots will cost approx. 30.00. Metered street parking is 0.50 for every fifteen minutes. Finding a free spot on Saturday or Sunday is like hitting the lottery. If its your lucky day, great. If not, expect the worst. Upcoming Events (details and entry forms can be found at http://www.metroswim.org) April: May: June: July: The LMSC has arranged for 3 sessions for long-course training for our swimmers.
